Lovely 22-year-old Sarah Gronert, a professional tennis player from Germany who desperately wants to compete in the woman’s tour, has been the victim of sometimes cruel scrutiny because she is no ordinary young lady – she was born with male and female genitalia.

Sarah Gronert, who is from Germany, finds that her coaches and fellow tennis players have strong and rather insulting opinions of her ‘gender’, despite the fact that she is medically certified a woman after having her male genataila removed, and is struggling to be accepted into the woman’s tour.
Gronert, who recently returned to tennis, almost abandoned her talent and career three years ago for the very same reasons – constant criticism and alienation because of the way she was born.
However, Julia Glushko’s coach Schlomo Tzoref paints a very clear picture of unfair strength and overall performance that Sarah is capable of – that other women cannot achieve: “There is no girl who can hit serves like that, not even Venus Williams.”
“When I heard her story, I was in shock. I don’t know if it’s fair that she can compete or not. She does have an advantage, but if this is what the WTA have decided, they probably know best. If she begins to play continuously, within six months she will be within the Top 50.”
“This cannot be. This is not a woman, it’s a man. She does not have the power of a woman and no woman has such a technique.”
“She serves like a man. It’s very strange.”
Let him…I mean her…I mean him…I mean shim…I mean it…Look, it’s all very confusing. However, I say let “that person” play. Sarah is clearly a woman, at least now. I don’t find her to be any stronger or athletic than either one of the Williams sisters. In fact, I’ll wager that the Williams sisters do not fine Sarah to be threatening in the least little bit to their rankings.
It’s not her fault that she was born a Hermaphrodite. She chose what side of the sexual fence she wants to be on. We have to respect it. We will be totally freaked out about it, naturally. Although we all have to respect who/what Sarah has become. So go on Sarah, keep swinging your racket( a phallus symbol) and slamming those balls(too easy to comment on). Go on and make all the Hermaphrodite’s of the world proud. Who knows, maybe Sarah can go on and become the Martin Luther King JR. of the Hermaphrodites or in the least the Mohahmad Ali of the Hermaphrodites

Have her compete in the transgendered tournaments…If there are no tournaments of kind, then start them up…I would love to see the women who are men now, and vice versa-compete. Sell the rights to LOGO and makes lots of money!!!!
See Sarah Gronert is not a transgender. The fact is that people are more confused with what’s transgender and what’s intersex. Sarah Gronert is not trans and She’s intersex. She’s born with a genetic DNA medical condition and She dose not have any Gender identity issues. She’s intersex and she’s not transgender.
So get your facts straight.
Well, should she or shouldn’t she be allowed to play in the woman’s tennis? There is a certain “fair” factor that must be considered. We understand that she’s”Intersex” however, if Shaq was born with tits would it be fair to allow him to play in the WNBA?
No, but I am all for genetic testing for athletes in the same way we drug test people for work, employment and to play sports as well. I believe that Sarah Gronert has the right to play with the girls and that being born and intersex condition should not knock her down.
