We all know that Madonna got shot down with her application to adopt a 3 year old little girl named Marcy James from Malawi. Reason: there is a law that states you have to be a resident in the country for at least 18-24 months. Ms. Material Girl splits her time between Africa, London and New York. When have we ever seen Madonna in one place for a certain period of time. The judge that denied her said that if they made any more exceptions it would endanger the children s safety and open the system up for child trafficking. Makes sense!
Everyone is comparing Madonna to Angela Jolie (in my opinion what is there to compare! Angela Jolie all the way) due to the fact that they both are adopting kids from other countries (which is great, don’t get me wrong, but I thought we had a lot of our own kids that need to be adopted here in the good ol USA?). The big funny is that Angela does her adoption legally, where Madonna does her on the “down low”. Shame on you Madonna, trying to use your status to get what you want! Haha, the world is funny… its Madonna people!
On another note, the biological father of Mercy is now fighting to get custody of his daughter. The baby’s parents met while in high school (awww, nothing like young love, no condom, and a giraffe) . After the young teen became pregnant the father says that her family gave him a really hard time and he decided to leave the town. Don’t most American men wish they had that option? Guess we live in the wrong country! After he heard that the teen mother had died (8 days after giving birth to Mercy), it was assumed that the baby died also. Can you imagine his face when he found out that the baby survived? (I see Homer Simpson “Doh”)
So my question is: What purse do you think goes with an adopted child? It is wonderful to see people of means reaching out to those that don’t but, at times it feels more like a game or a fashion accessory than real life. Then, there is also the fact that celebrities think that they don’t have to follow the rules. Must be nice being rich!
