Just a few years ago, the St. Louis Rams had a franchise quarterback in Marc Bulger. Since filling in for Kurt Warner, he has been great. As of right now, everything has changed. Bulger keeps making mistakes, when it’s fumbling, throwing picks, or just doing something else that is stupid or absurd.
Entering an offseason, coming off a 1-15 season, Bulger got injured and was very disappointing. Which brings me to something: why don’t the Rams just get rid of Bulger and go for a guy like Michael Vick? Vick will most probably enter free agency or be traded. The Rams could offer Bulger and a draft pick or two to Philly for Vick.
Vick can be the piece the Rams need. Steven Jackson was able to run well with a bad quarterback and everything. Now with a chance of having a better quarterback who is a playmaker and with a few fixes in the offseason, this Rams team can win way more than just one small game.
If the Rams do indeed get Vick out of free agency or in a trade, they can tidy up their defense as well with drafting star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Along with that, the team’s GM Bill Devaney has had a strong relationship with Vick dating back to their days in Atlanta with the Falcons.
The Rams can very well improve their team. Along with that, they can get some better receivers. With Terrell Owens entering free agency, the Rams could give him a contract. In the top ten with the most cap room space, St. Louis can easily get a top player when free agency hits.
And you guys are probably thinking Vick will stay with Philly and stay as a backup. Apparently, that is not going to happen. He is not going to be a backup for two seasons in a row. Says Matt Mosley of ESPN:
“I’ve never for one minute thought the Eagles were going to bring Vick back in 2010 — and that thought hasn’t changed. Vick was apparently the consummate teammate in his return to the league. But we’re talking about a former superstar who appears to have some tread left on his tires. Do you think he’s going to embrace being a backup in 2010 as well as he did in ’09? Yeah, I don’t either.”
The Rams might as well go for Vick. They need to fix themselves and rebuild. Getting rid of Bulger and going for Vick would be a good head start to a hopefully good offseason.
