Months ago the Republican Party redesigned its webpage to a shiny new, modernized image that makes iTunes seem like it’s for old people. They tapped into the social networking trends by adding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr applications. They seemed to all of a sudden become “diverse”. Go there now, and look at the faces that pop up as the “O” in GOP. Around the same time, the GOP released a list of influential Republicans which featured only 4 WHITE MALES. Several of which were champions for civil rights, like Lincoln. Outlets were quick to skewer the selection of Jackie Robinson, among others, pointing to not a couple but many quotes from his autobiography that seem to suggest otherwise. The Daily Show had particular fun showcasing this quote: “By and large Republicans had ignored blacks and sometimes handpicked a few servile leaders in the black community to be their token “n***ers.” How would I sound trying to go all out to sell Republicans to black people? They’re not buying. They know better.” The most plain and obvious answer to the question came as a single thought, “…since I’ve never identified myself with one party or another in politics.” The new and improved GOP is at it again with another attempt to become the “cool” party in the eyes of young people, minorities, and the tech-savvy. Today their BlackBerry application called “WhipCast” will become available to the public. The application spurts talking points, summarizes bills, follows votes, and even keeps up with rumors, polls, and late-night comedy. To which the Democratic Party responded: with all those glitches and spyware, people still use BlackBerry’s???

Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty took another shot at the President today as possible political posturing for a 2012 run at taking Barack’s job. In an interview with a conservative website called Newsmax (in a recent “poll” they’re claiming the country is now 40% conservative, 35% moderate, and 20% liberal; when in reality we’re probably 60% moderate, and 20/20 far left or right), Pawlenty said Obama “[projects] potential weakness”. He went on to attack the president’s foreign relations and international indecisiveness, as well as call his domestic approach one of a “nanny-state mentality”. Previous Obama criticisms from Pawlenty were always the latter, domestic policy ribbing, but with Pawlenty upping his public attacks to foreign status it’s becoming near certain he’ll be running in 2012. Not that it wasn’t certain enough; earlier this year the MN governor announced he indeed would not be seeking a second term in that office, which drew lots of national attention. He briefly summarized his quarrel with the current Health Care Reform proposals:

The diagnosis of the problem for the health care delivery system in the country was supposed to be cost-containment. In other words, we need to make it more affordable for individuals and families, businesses and governmental entities. But, instead, they are now focused substantially on expanding access.

Four Republicans (most notably Representative Sue Myrick of North Carolina) are calling for investigations into the histories and character of several Muslim interns claiming them to be part of some sort of top-secret Cobra Command-esque plot to get spies on the inside of the United States government. The masterminds aren’t Destro, Cobra Commander, and Storm Shadow though, rather, one man named Ibrahim Hooper (Wait, there’s no “death” in his name! He must have a call-sign with more evilness…) who heads an organization called “The Council on American-Islamic Relations” (CAIR), the group accused of “planting” the “spies”. So what does this type of sh*t lead to? Death threats. Or, at least, implied “figure of speech” death threats. As a direct result of Mrs. Myrick ‘n cronies’ stupidity, Hooper received a fax saying he’ll be “hanged for treason” and that he’s a “Muslim Neanderthal”. Yikes. House Dems and civil-liberties groups have since jumped into CAIR’s corner calling the attacks a form of bigotry. According to the Washington Times (note: they’re moderately Conservative), CAIR was labeled by the Justice Department as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the trial of the Holy Land Organization, which was the group convicted of funding Hamas (Remember that whole Lebanon thingy??). True or not, Cobra Command could learn some things from the plot CAIR has attempted to hatch, or has BEEN ACCUSED of attempting to hatch. They’re official mission statement: “CAIR’s vision is to be a leading advocate for justice and mutual understanding. CAIR’s mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.” You be the judge.

There’s a joke going around about POTUS Barack Hussein Obama. It goes:

Question: How do you know when Obama is lying?
Answer: His lips are moving

In last night’s presser that pre-empted regular programming for an hour of lies and half truths, Obama side stepped a question from Chip Reid who wanted to know what fool solves a problem by compounding it?

QUESTION Chip Reid:
At both of your town hall meetings in California last week, you said, quote, ”I didn’t run for president to pass on our problems to the next generation.” But under your budget, the debt will increase $7 trillion over the next 10 years. The Congressional Budget Office says $9.3 trillion. And today on Capitol Hill, some Republicans called your budget, with all the spending on health care, education and environment, the most irresponsible budget in American history.

Isn’t that kind of debt exactly what you were talking about when you said passing on our problems to the next generation?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: First of all, I suspect that some of those Republican critics have a short memory, because as I recall, I’m inheriting a $1.3 trillion deficit, annual deficit, from them.

Only a narcissist like Obama thinks inheriting $1.3 trillion in debt from his predecessor is worse than adding $7-8 trillion in debt on top of it.

The American people who will end up paying for Obama’s reckless spending have a right to be angry.
